Le Château de Rochefort

Made up of several historic buildings, the chateau dates back to the 14th century. But you have to go back to the 15th century to find the origin of the chateau’s name, when it was under the control of the Menthon, Lords of Rochefort in Savoie.

Although it takes the name of Rochefort the estate doesn’t stay in the hands of this family for very long. A number of owners succeeded one another as head of the estate from the 16th century onwards.

Finally, Antoine Albert and Anne-Louise-Georgette Recordon, having no descendants, bequeathed it to the Bourse des Pauvres (association to help the poor) of the municipality of Lausanne in 1838.
